Doubles Final Preview

Let's take a closer look at the two pairings that will face-off in tomorrow's final

After a week of doubles action which saw all seeds eliminated early on, the inuagural Gijón Open will crown its doubles champions tomorrow.

Texan Nathaniel Lammons & Jackson Withrow from Nebraska will take on the Argentinian pairing of Maximo Gonzalez & Andres Moltini.

Gonzalez(ARG)/Molteni(ARG) - Road to the Final:

  • R1: defeated local favourites Pablo Carreño (ESP) & Joao Sousa (POR) 6-2 6-4
  • QF: upset fourth seeds Francisco Cabral (POR) & Jamie Murray (GBR) 6-3 7-5
  • SF: defeated Nikola Cacis (SRB) & Hugo Nys (MON)  7-5 6-2

This is only the second time that the pair have teamed up on the ATP Tour, having previously made the Stuttgart semifinals in 2021.

However, in 2017 they teamed up to play Davis Cup for Argentina, and then again earlier this year at the ATP Cup, coming out of the event with 2 wins and 1 loss.

With other partners Gonzalez and Moltenis have made 18 and 16 doubles finals respectively, and they now advance to their first tour final together without having dropped a set.

Lammons(USA)/Withrow(USA) - Road to the Final:

  • R1: defeated compatriots Marcos Giron (USA) & Hunter Reese (USA) 6-1 6-4
  • QF: upset third seeds Francisco Cabral (POR) & Jamie Murray (GBR) 6-7(8) 6-4 10-6
  • SF: defeated Sander Gille (BEL) & Fabrice Martin (FRA) 6-4 6-4

"Nate" and "Dub" (pictured) have played together at 7 tournaments this year and ever since putting in a good run at their home slam the pair have been seemingly unstoppable.

Their appearance in the title decider is their third straight final together since their R16 showing at the US Open.

After wnning the Cary Challenger followed by the San Diego ATP 250 last month, will they be able to make it three-in-a-row in Gijón?

We will find out tomorrow at 11:00am when the men’s doubles final kicks off on Centre Court at the Palacio de Deportes de La Guía.
