Andrey Rublev, Pablo Carreño, Roberto Bautista and Francisco Cerúndolo head the provisional list of participating players

Top-10 player Andrey Rublev (No. 9) and local idol Pablo Carreño (No. 14) head the provisional entry list for the Gijón Open ATP 250, which was released today. The list includes ten players in the Top-50 as well as Grand Slam champ Dominic Thiem.

The tournament, to be held at the Palacio de Deportes La Guía from October 8 to 16, will also feature other top-ranked players, including Roberto Bautista (No. 21) and Francisco Cerúndolo (No. 27).

Emerging tennis stars in Gijón

In addition to the young Argentinian, Gijón will see many of the circuit’s up-and-coming players in action, such as Alejandro Davidovich (No. 28), Tommy Paul (No. 29), Sebastián Báez (No. 37) and Sebastian Korda (No. 49).

Other well-known names will also participate in the tournament, including Albert Ramos (No. 40), Adrian Mannarino (No. 47), Benjamin Bonzi (No. 53), João Sousa (No. 56), Jaume A. Munar (No. 57), Pedro Cachín (No. 58), Arthur Rinderknech (No. 59), Marcos Giron (No. 60) and Ilya Ivashka (No. 61).

Thiem enters with a protected ranking

The 2020 US Open champion, and three-times Grand Slam runner-up, will play using his protected ranking (No. 6). Belgian David Goffin, who had expressed interest in playing in Gijón, will not be able to play due to his ranking.

The full list of participants will be finalised once the 3 wildcard entrants, the 4 qualifiers, and the 2 special exempt players are determined. Tickets are on sale through the tournament website www.gijonopen.com and at El Corte Inglés.
