Get out the Popcorn
First up on centre court will be Italian legend, former world #9 Fabio Fognini. The winner of nine career titles, including his biggest win at the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters 1000, will face French Qualifier Manuel Guinard in round one.
Wildcard recipient Andy Murray will face a tough assignment as third match on centre court when he takes on sixth seeded locad Alejandro Davidovivh Fokina. It is the first meeting between the two sparring partners who know each others’ games very well. Expect a battle fought out in good spirit.
Another beneficiary of a wildcard was one of Murray’s besties, Feliciano Lopez. The 41-year-old player could not resist the opportunity to play in from of a home crowd, in what could be swan-song for the Madrid native. The crowd will certainly be on his side, however llya Ivashka will be looking to rain on the parade.
Local idol Pablo Carreño will play his first ever ATP match in his home city in a doubles encounter with partner Joao Sousa. Two other singles matches are set for tomorrow, see the full schedule below.
