10:30pm | González and Molteni prevail, securing a 6-2 6-4 win.

9:50pm | The Argentinians snatch the first set off the Iberian pairing 6-3.

Pablo Carreño takes to court for the first time in his professional career in his home town. He is playing doubles with his Portuguese partner Joao Sousa and they are facing the Argentinian combination of Máximo González y Andres Molteni. 

9:05pm | 
On-court prsentation: tribute to Feliciano López.

9:00pm | Ilya Ivashka defeats Feliciano Lopez 6-3 6-7 6-4 after 2 hours and 18 minutes.

8:20pm | Lopez wins the second set 7-6 to even things up.

7:20pm | Ivashka takes the first set 6-3 against López.

6:35pm | Feliciano López, a sentimental favourite, and his opponent Ilya Ivashka tak to Centre Court.

6:20pm | Murray ousts Davidovich Fokina 7-5 6-2 in 1 hour and 43 minutes. In his on-court interview after the match, the Scot stated, "I still enjoy playing but the young guys move so well it’s difficult for me to keep up with them. The crowd was fantastic and there was a wonderful atmosphere. I really enjoy playing in new places. I’ve never been here before and it’s a beautiful place, so I'm happy to be here ... even though I was terrible at trying to pour the local cider yesterday."

 From 2-4 down, Murray fights back to take the first set 7-5 against Davidovich Fokina in just over an hour.

5:30pm | Spaniard Jaume Munar is signing autographs for fans at the Total Energies stand, located inside the main hall, behind Centre Court.

4:30pm | Both former world number one Andy Murray (GBR) as well as local Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are warmly received as they walk out onto Centre Court. This is their first meeting. 

4:06pm | Marcos Giron (USA) upsets #8 seed Albert Ramos (ESP) 4-6 6-4 6-2 to advance to round two, where he will face Dominic Thiem.

3:35pm | Giron evens things up, tying the match at one-set-all againt Ramos.

2:50pm | Álvarez-Varona pulls off a comeback from a set down to take out Trungelliti 1-6 6-3 6-0 to win his first-ever match on the ATP Tour. In the second round he will meet fifth seed Tommy Paul who defeated Martin Landaluce yesterday.

2:10pm | Spain's Alvarez-Varona draws even at a set apiece with his Argentine opponent  Trungelliti on court 1.

Californian Marcos Giron and eighth seeded Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas take to centre court.

After playing two more games, Fognini is forced to retire, thus handing Guinard a victory. Final score: 4-6 6-0 2-0 ret.

Trainers called to centre court.

1:20pm | 
In barely 20 minutes, Guinard makes a stunning recovery to draw even and claim the second set 6-0 against Fognini.

1:10pm | Qualifiers Marco Trungelliti (ARG) and Nicolas Alvarez Varona (ESP), face off in round 1 action on court 1.

Fognini breaks Guinard at a crucial moment to take the first set 6-4.

12:00pm | French qualifier Manuel Guinard is playing his third match of the Gijón Open ATP 250, having already won two matches in the qualies. To get proceedings underway today, he faces unseeded Fabio Fognini on centre court in their first-ever career meeting. The Italian is making his singles debut at the tournament, having won his first round doubles match yesterday with compatriot Simone Bolelli.

11:15am | Despite the persitent drizzle in Gijón, the gates are open and crowds have been streaming in. A lot of local schoolkids have taken the opportunity to take the morning off to watch some top flight tennis.
